If there were one simple thing that you could do every day that would make you healthier, more peaceful, more intuitive, more creative and more spiritually receptive, would you do it? If there were a free, quality app to make it even simpler to learn, to schedule and to remember would you download it? Wise doctors, positiive psychologists, happiness researchers, and spiritual teachers all agree.

The word "meditation" actually refers to many different things, and can be confusing and off-putting to some. Nevertheless, some form of calming the "monkey mind" is essential for wholehearted, healthy living. Let's start with something simpler and call it Mindfulness Training. There is a great free app for learning and practicing the classic mindfulness awareness strategies. The guided sessions are 1, 5, 7, 10 minutes long. You can carry them with you and choose to re-play them anytime. Once you've learned these breath, body, and awareness exercises, the app offers the option of timed sessions for quieting your mind that are 10, 15, 30 or 45 minutes long. The app is designed to be used by all age groups. When you click on it, you will read "for young people", but then there are age group choices. It is kid, adult and old-fogey friendly. It's called Smiling Mind.
